Red Door Communications

Summary of work

2012 represented a year of significant change for RDC with two senior team members (including our MD) on maternity leave and the retirement of our international director. Maintaining levels of senior client service whilst adding new offerings, all with reduced resource, was key. Change was well planned to mitigate disruption; Nicky Walsby was promoted to deputy MD and a fierce recruitment drive initiated, leading to two significant senior appointments: Andrew Thomas as head of international and Matt Lowe as head of digital. Despite tough trading conditions, we achieved all 2012 business objectives; growing overall revenue whilst investing in the future, both of our consultancy and the industry, through service evolution and a continued commitment to graduate recruitment and training. Our focus on driving international revenue (including winning our first £1m account) and client base; innovating with new offerings and growing our ‘super-clients’ was key to ensure we not only continue to meet our clients’ changing needs, but also anticipate, pre-empt and, in cases, lead the need for change. Moreover, PR and media relations remain at our core; we were incredibly proud to achieve ‘Most Highly Rated Healthcare Agency’ in a PR Week survey of healthcare journalists.

Judges comments

This is a true heritage brand that continues to grow and develop year-on-year, and never rests on its laurels. Red Door is just so good - and they know it, because they measure it and constantly seek to improve. They have sophisticated product offerings that stand out from the crowd. This is a really ‘together’ agency, where you would be sure to feel your campaigns were in safe hands.
