Summary of work

For the first few years of my career I learnt the ropes in the supportive environment of Litmus, whose culture of ‘no walls, no titles’ opened up my early professional development to both account management and content development, and taught me to always strive and drive for innovation rather than rest on the laurels of established practices. I then focused my professional development on being a pacesetter delivering outcomes-based, award-winning projects for my clients. During this time I developed a passion for digital media. Recently my career has progressed to leadership. I devote my energies to ensure that my company remains ahead of the curve when adapting to shifts in the industry environment, enhance the professional development of colleagues, and deliver relevant, medical communications programmes for our clients. My proudest achievements to date include establishing a cross-team digital group that developed digital expertise across our network, allowing us to enhance our capabilities for delivering digital work for our clients. Finally, I’m embarking on the most exciting part of my career to date with the co-founding of a blossoming new agency, inVentiv Medical Communications, which has grown to a team of nine in as many months since it was launched.

Judges’ comments

James is very much a high achiever and a strong contender for this Award. An engaging, leftfield thinker who has the tenacity and courage to push new ideas through, he has also shown strong leadership in developing the cross-EU network digital team and is a champion of best practice.
