Summary of work

An internal communications programme that honours employees

In 2015 the UK and Ireland workforce grew rapidly by more than one-third, making it harder for employees to remain connected and engaged, and for Celgene to maintain a valued company culture. The internal channels had become stagnated, and employee survey feedback revealed that the team was looking for more.

Celgene sought the support of CCA, who met the challenge head-on by developing OneStory.

One-Story is an internal campaign theme for the internal comms programme, which aligns with OneCelgene, a new mantra adopted by Celgene.

CCA devised a creative approach that put people at the heart of a re-energised internal communications programme. Existing channels were overhauled to deliver content embodying Celgene’s values and culture, providing relevant up-to-date information to excite and inspire employees, while supporting best-practice sharing and senior management communications.

Results have shown overwhelming positive feedback and a 77% increase in interaction, proving the effectiveness of the strategy and flawless execution of tactics. The programme has demonstrated the strength and agility of the Celgene/CCA partnership for effecting real change.

Judges' comments

An innovative programme that was well implemented, with strong, simple and credible feedback across functions, together with good outcomes. We liked the way it got away from a corporate tone and was a fun way to show best practice.
