Summary of work

Patient Power - A digital media channel for patient empowerment

Content development and delivery of a video-hosting website and online community devoted to helping cancer patients of survivors, and their caregivers, to become educated, aware and empowered to take control of their lives and get the best treatment available to them.

Supporting Patients: By partnering with an existing patient education network, we were able to develop a platform and communication plan that allows patients to gain access to trusted, reliable and up-to-date healthcare information. By continuously surveying and listening to our audience, we have been able to provide content that patients really want in the most effective digital and rich-media formats. Using a truly social approach to the sharing of online content, we have developed strong relationships with other influential patient groups and patient opinion leaders in order to maximise the reach, and impact, of our content.

Enabling Industry: By providing hands-off grant funding support, pharmaceutical companies have been able to use the platform in order to succeed in delivering truly independent and trusted patient-centric initiatives that support the online patient community.

Judges' comments

This was a really patient-focused project and we enjoyed both the pre-and post-market research and the work on understanding what they’re going to do next. They’ve created something very smart with good thinking on what content and channels  they need, which they then followed through by producing a valuable and nicely designed resource for patients that clearly conveys its credibility.
