Pancreatic cancer has the worst survival rate of all common cancers in the UK and despite being the fifth biggest cancer killer, more than half of patients have never heard of it before their own diagnosis. Awareness is vital! Working on a limited budget with a very small marketing team some incredible results were achieved in 2015! A campaign to reinstate a life-extending drug was headline news on Channel 4, launching a new brand at a celebrity fundraising event attracted national media attention, and in Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month (November), over 17,000 people across the world downloaded a pancreatic cancer twibbon.
The work generated by this charity showed lots of positive coverage and led to some really tangible outcomes. They had a coherent strategy, employed a wide range of tactics and made truly good use of real stories in their media relations work.
