Sandoz HACk – Healthcare Access Challenge

by Weber Shandwick for Sandoz

Summary of work

Universal access to healthcare is still arguably the largest unmet medical need. More than 2bn people currently cannot access the medicines they need and over 400m lack access to essential health services. Sandoz HACk – Healthcare Access Challenge, was created to inspire and embrace the brave and innovative thinking of entrepreneurs to improve access to healthcare around the world.

The inaugural competition was a great success, identifying health access solutions and enhancing company reputation. BUT, the pharmaceutical landscape is dramatically changing. As the industry faces changing market dynamics, traditionally defined CSR projects need to evolve into sustainable initiatives if they are to have an impact on business and society. So, for 2018, we reshaped the HACk from a pure play CSR initiative to an established CR campaign, fully aligned with Sandoz’s business strategy and closer to its vision of a more agile culture, open to partnerships, and with a focus on utilising digital technology to drive global healthcare access.

With unyielding support from Sandoz executives and a fully integrated blend of employee mobilisation, media relations and digital engagement, HACk has become a CR programme that encompasses Sandoz’ vision: supporting entrepreneurial talent and increasing access to healthcare.
