Gaining Perspective: What Can the UK Learn from Lung Cancer Care in Europe?
Summary of work
The UK’s lung cancer survival rates are some of the lowest in Europe. To tackle this, the UK Lung Cancer Coalition (UKLCC) identified the possibility of learning from European health systems to improve patients’ experiences and outcomes. In 2018, Bristol-Myers Squibb and the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation took this recommendation forward with their report Gaining perspective: What can the UK learn from lung cancer care in Europe?
With input from an expert group of UK clinicians and patient advocates, the report collates evidence-based innovations and best practice from across five countries and presents recommendations for policymakers. The report highlights that, although there are clear opportunities to improve lung cancer care, there is also a great deal of which the UK lung cancer community should be proud.
