Now & Next: Engaging Employees During Challenging Times

Summary of work

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, AstraZeneca knew it was more important than ever to tap into the collective brainpower of its employees and work with them to ensure the company’s continued success. “Now & Next” was a highly engaging, action-orientated global crowdsourcing exercise that brought together 75,000 employees from around the world to work together and overcome the immediate and long-term challenges presented by COVID-19.

To date, the program has successfully generated and leveraged data through newly established channels and partnerships with engaged stakeholders. The program has already successfully influenced clinical practice and policy at global, country and clinic levels via novel insights and targeted, patient-focused solutions. Adherence is gaining the attention it has long needed, and real-world outcomes will improve as a result.

The Now & Next project took a simple, but effective approach to this successful campaign to source ideas. We liked that it was capturing employee opinion and acting on it. It was classic and simple but delivered impressively and generated an extraordinary amount of engagement.
