Fighting Failure: Reprioritising Heart Failure Care in the UK

Summary of work

Heart failure (HF) is a condition that is becoming increasingly prevalent but is poorly recognised. With the number of people living with HF in the UK reaching one million and disparity of care across the country, we had to act and create a campaign that would inspire patients and increase the level of understanding of HF around the country.
Through research and insight gathering we confirmed the scale of challenge to create a campaign to drive change in HF and realised this could not be done alone. Partnership with the community, healthcare professionals and patients became the only path that could make a difference. With partnership at the heart of the campaign, the strategic direction became clear. By the people, for the people.
The Fighting Failure campaign has created practical resources for the HF community and a spirit to help motivate those dealing with the disease's challenges to seek improvement.
With the impact of COVID-19 still shutting HF patients away from many of those people and facilities that could help them, we are proud to have created a resource that offers them some support to keep up the fight.

Judges' comments

A well written entry for a project that had real impact with clear objectives and commendable results. The team showed strength in the face of tragic circumstances with the death of their documentary subject and demonstrated clear ambition to drive action.
