Hear Me Now

by Munro & Forster for Janssen

Summary of work

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in men in the UK and the second-most common cause of death. Black African-Caribbean men have a three-fold greater risk and are 30% more likely to die of prostate cancer than white men. Through a series of national and local meetings, Hear Me Now brought together leading experts in prostate cancer care, statutory organisations, patient groups, local authority representatives and clinical commissioning group (CCG) representatives. By shining a light on this health inequality, our comprehensive meeting programme has encouraged a number of national and local initiatives to raise awareness and increase earlier diagnosis for this high risk group.

Judges’ comments

We loved the concept of this programme. It was so focused and clear with real added value. It showed the power of getting people at a local level in a room together and created impact, making a change on a very local and specific scale.
