Wellbeing Week

by Roche

Summary of work

Communication was central to the success of an ambitious programme of well-being activities delivered for Roche’s 1,500 pharmaceutical division employees in the UK.

We ensured consistently high quality communication in advance and during a Well-being Week through a two-pronged approach: devising and delivering communication through a wide range of internal channels ourselves, and providing templates and advice to the team of Project Leaders who were managing some of the week’s activities.

We engaged leaders and line managers to encourage them to allow employees to attend events. We then delivered a sustained campaign of communication that raised awareness of the week, secured understanding of the activities on offer and motivated people to get involved.

Effective internal communication, combined with the breadth and depth of the well-being activities delivered, helped secure high levels of satisfaction and an impact on participants’ well-being.

Well-being Week, as part of a wider and ongoing programme of health and well-being activities, also helped Roche secure its place as one of the top ten employers in the UK in the 2014 Top Employer awards scheme.

Judges’ comments

A simple but clearly thought out approach to engaging employees and their families on wellbeing. Strong stakeholder feedback and evidence of overall stakeholder engagement.
