A new, highly complex area of research in oncology focuses on boosting the immune system to destroy cancer cells. This led to the discovery of skin cancer treatment Yervoy, which is very different in efficacy and side-effect management compared to standard therapy.
Through a science-driven multimedia campaign accurate messages were relayed to stakeholders by extensive media coverage (600 million impressions), by physician and patient group dialogue, and via social media outreach. This resulted in a greater understanding of the scientific rationale behind Yervoy and an informed platform from which to translate complex scientific data into physician and patient understanding.
It was a new and different approach, much more than just data analysis.
