Quality care. Everywhere – The Prostate Cancer Charity's campaign for quality care

by MHP Health Mandate for The Prostate Cancer Charity

Summary of work

By putting people from across the UK affected by prostate cancer at the centre of this campaign, The Prostate Cancer Charity ignited a local and national conversation with policy-makers and the NHS about the urgent need to improve the quality of care received by men with the disease.

Previously a ‘poor relation’ to other cancers, this campaign has elevated prostate cancer up the health and political agenda, leading to a commitment from Government to prioritise the development of a quality standard, a national clinical audit and recognition from the Prime Minister of the need for better care for men everywhere.

Judges comments

A good solid programme whose use of local data really made it stand out and showed a real awareness of NHS changes rather than just ploughing ahead with a business-as-usual approach.
