Osteoarthritis Treatment Choices Campaign

Summary of work

Osteoarthritis (OA) affects 8.5 million people in the UK. Some 80 per cent live in constant pain that severely impacts daily life, despite availability of a range of treatments.

Napp teamed up with Arthritis Care for a pilot awareness initiative in three cities to arm patients with information and tools to help improve their pain management.

Blanket local media coverage and significant pre-launch awareness-raising led to an incredibly successful roadshow with over 1,000 nurse consultations.

Robust evaluation demonstrated true behavioural change, with 83 per cent of patients agreeing to a nurse follow-up call and 80 per cent confirming they had visited their GP to discuss pain treatment.


Judges comments

A very clear, well-written entry with concise objectives and strategy, but what made it really stand out was the development of local champions.  The local coverage achieved was really impressive.
