Summary of work
Osteoarthritis (OA) affects 8.5 million people in the UK. Some 80 per cent live in constant pain that severely impacts daily life, despite availability of a range of treatments.
Napp teamed up with Arthritis Care for a pilot awareness initiative in three cities to arm patients with information and tools to help improve their pain management.
Blanket local media coverage and significant pre-launch awareness-raising led to an incredibly successful roadshow with over 1,000 nurse consultations.
Robust evaluation demonstrated true behavioural change, with 83 per cent of patients agreeing to a nurse follow-up call and 80 per cent confirming they had visited their GP to discuss pain treatment.
