Towards the best in Europe - delivering improved outcomes for patients with rarer cancers

by MHP Health Mandate for Rarer Cancers Foundation

Summary of work

Cancer is an emotionally loaded subject and there is always a risk that organisations working in this area can lose control of the debate through sloppy communication. This programme showed the true value of writing excellence in healthcare communications, using precise language, carefully calibrated to the audience to convey complex messages, motivate disparate stakeholders and deliver concrete results, which will benefit patient outcomes.

Spanning the entire patient pathway, the programme delivered real benefits to patients, resulting in the government taking action to improve rarer cancer awareness, support earlier diagnosis and deliver the latest radiotherapy and drug treatments.

Judges comments

Without question this was a fantastic campaign whose authoritative reports really carried with them a sense of credibility
