CML-Life Patient Support Programme
Summary of work
Working in collaboration with patient advocacy groups, patients, carers and CML treatment experts across Europe, Incyte Biosciences International Sàrl and The EarthWorks built and launched a pan-European above-brand patient support programme, designed to help all people with CML and their carers.
Following clear feedback from these stakeholders to not just provide support and resources to patients on one particular brand of therapy, Incyte developed CML Life, a patient support programme designed to serve the whole CML community in Europe, with three objectives:
1. Improve patient and carer understanding of CML
2. Increase treatment engagement and adherence
3. Improve the quality of life for CML patients and carers.
Our advocate, Felice Bombaci, said: “I’ve been very proud to be a part of this project. I believe that by involving patients like myself, and others all across Europe in creating CML Life, has meant that we have built something that will make a huge difference to the CML community. Incyte listened to what we had to say, and developed something that we’ll actually use. Not just for one particular medicine, but for anyone affected by the condition. It’s refreshing to see, and I know that the CML community will be very grateful.”
Judges’ comments
This is a well-constructed multi-media patient support programme, which takes a holistic and pragmatic approach to meeting the needs of people with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML).
