Summary of work

AstraZeneca is committed to building an agile, innovative and high-performing culture which puts science and patients at the heart of everything it does. To support AstraZeneca’s rapidly accelerating programme of biologic drug research and development, Ashfield Insight & Performance and Ashfield Healthcare (Ashfield) assisted them with an initiative to deliver biologics training across their entire European corporate population. The resulting programme, ‘ImmUniversity’, aimed to enable understanding of the scientific background, development and application of biologic therapy for all personnel.

Ashfield developed the ImmUniversity programme in a range of media formats to address audiences with diverse background knowledge and different learning needs and styles. The programme included:

  • An interactive digital learning programme
  • Live webcasts
  • Live conference.

There were three key topic areas:

  • Molecular signalling and immunology
  • Biologics and biosimilars
  • The biologics market.

The ImmUniversity programme comprised one set of materials to train an entire corporate population, making it a truly innovative business capability initiative. It has been highly successful, with participants reporting being engaged and motivated by their learning experiences.

Judges’ comments

We thought this was a commendable example of a development programme stretching across a broad range of roles, capabilities and markets, encompassing a comprehensive range of learning style applications. The resulting learning outcomes had real meaning and purpose.
