Communiqué - Volume 37

Communiqué 37

Welcome to the 37th edition of the Communiqué directory. In this first issue for 2016 we cover some of the upcoming trends for the year.

With the debate around pharmaceutical prices having reached new levels of intensity in 2015, we look at payers needs and hear how the industry should be trying to get closer to its ‘buyers’ if companies want to effectively deliver hope and health to patients.

Something that’s sure to be ‘one to watch’ this year is payment transparency, with the June deadline for implementation of the EFPIA disclosure code. The ‘transfers of value’ this covers affect everything from meetings and events to congress and consultancy fees, and the code is set to burst into life and – crucially – into public view in July.

As we hear, when the eyes of the public fall upon industry actions there’s an opportunity for pharma to use this to improve perceptions of these actions.

And we hear from the UK’s chief medical advisor Professor Dame Sally Davies on the complexity of communicating to multiple healthcare stakeholders about an issue as challenging as antimicrobial resistance.

We’re also using this issue of Communiqué to bring you a series of illuminating case studies from some of the standout work recognised at last year’s Communiqué Awards.

These include public health campaigns like the campaign for standardised tobacco product packaging to disease-focused campaigns in hepatitis, liver disease and cancer. Whether utilising traditional media, social media, multichannel marketing or behavioural change, the work makes for illuminating reading.

The next edition of Communiqué will be published in July, when we’ll be able to present in full the winners of the 2016 Communiqué Awards.

I hope you enjoy your Communiqué directory.
