Ute Bockstegers has joined Bayer UK and Ireland as its new chief financial officer (CFO) and head of business administration and partnering.
She moves to the company from Bayer’s Canadian operations, where she served as CFO, and in her new role Bockstegers will provide management, leadership and strategic direction for the company’s central service functions.
“It’s great to be in the United Kingdom. I was a trainee with Bayer’s polyurethanes business, based here in Newbury, in 1987 and have been keen to return,” Bockstegers said.
“Now I’m here as CFO for Bayer UK and Ireland and I’m looking forward to really focusing on transforming how we do business overall. Following Bayer’s global strategy, it’s about how we can do business differently to be more efficient and ensure success across all parts of the business.”
She started at Bayer as a marketing representative 29 years and has held numerous leadership positions across the organisation and within its operations in Germany, Ireland, the United States and Canada.
Bockstegers takes over from Bayer UK and Ireland’s outgoing CFO Stephen Waite who is retiring.
Martin Dawkins, head of Bayer UK and Ireland, said: “After being with Bayer for 35 years, Stephen Waite’s knowledge and business acumen will be missed and we wish him well in his retirement.
“However, we are delighted to welcome Ute as she brings tremendous business experience and understanding of Bayer.”
