Alcon names president EMEA

Riad Sherif joins from Novartis’ Canada business
alcon-Riad-Sherif

Dr Riad Sherif has left his role at Novartis in Canada to join the pharma giant's eyecare business Alcon as president for the EMEA region.

The appointment marks a move back to Europe for Dr Sherif who has spent the past three years in Canada as president of Novartis' operations in the country.

Dr Sherif joined Switzerland-based Novartis in 2002 as global sales manager before moving to Argentina in 2004 to take on senior Novartis positions in Latin America.

He now heads the EMEA region for Alcon, which is the global leader in eyecare and is the second largest division of Novartis. It was acquired by Novartis in 2010.
