ApotheCom ScopeMedical expands team

ApotheCom ScopeMedical names new members of its senior management team

Huntsworth Health agency ApotheCom ScopeMedical has announced several recent appointments to its medical communications team.

Dr Dan Bridges has been appointed as director of scientific services; Dr Afua Basoah joins as director of client services; while Rob Barker is the group's new managing director for Europe.

Bridges joins the team following 10 years with Excerpta Medica, most recently as business unit director, publication planning. His experience covers policy within medical communications and he is co-author of The Good Publication Practice for Communicating Company Sponsored Medical Research, a guideline for medical communications. As part of the senior management team, Bridges will provide strategic and scientific counsel to the agency's client portfolio.

Also joining the senior management team, Basoah will be leading one of the agency's client services teams, providing counsel and overseeing project and account management. Most recently she was client services director at Hill + Knowlton's Medical Knowledge Group. Prior to that she spent eight years at Ogilvy Healthworld, initially as account executive and later as director of account services.

Stepping in as managing director, Europe, Barker will be leading the group's regional operations for ApotheCom EU and ApotheCom ScopeMedical EU. He has held senior strategic and marketing positions at both Novartis (during which time he gained an MBA) and GlaxoSmithKline on domestic and global projects. Later in his career he switched to agency side, where he was managing director of Medicus International. In this role, he drove growth and development in advertising and medical communications.
