Bupa swipes Shire’s SVP of global commercial operations

Theresa Heggie joins as chief strategy and marketing officer

Theresa HeggieShire's senior vice president of global commercial operations for Human Genetic Therapies Theresa Heggie has taken on a new role with health insurer Bupa.

As chief strategy and marketing officer she will be responsible for the company's global sales and marketing functions.

Over her 20-year pharmaceutical industry career, Heggie has held senior sales and marketing positions with Janssen, Ohmeda Pharmaceutical Products Division (part of BOC) and Baxter.

"Theresa's extensive commercial expertise, healthcare knowledge and international experience make her an ideal fit for Bupa," explained Bupa CEO Stuart Fletcher.

"Her appointment completes the reorganisation of our senior executive team and I'm very pleased she's joining us at such a pivotal point in our growth."

Commenting on her appointment, Heggie said: "I'm thrilled to be joining Bupa. Its international scale and trusted brand, coupled with its ambitions for the future, are very exciting and I look forward to working closely with Stuart and the rest of the team to deliver on these ambitions."
