Dr Ian Hudson elected vice chair of CHMP

Will serve a three-year term on EMA's scientific advisory committee

MHRA CHMP Dr Ian HudsonThe EMA’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) has elected Dr Ian Hudson to serve as its vice chair for a three-year term.

Dr Hudson has been a member of the scientific advisory committee since 2004 and is currently director of the licensing division at UK medicines regulator the MHRA.

Announcing its appointment the EMA said: “Dr Hudson brings outstanding experience and expertise from a long career in regulatory medicine and drug development, particularly in the areas of anti-infectives and oncology.”

Before joining the MHRA in 2001 Dr Hudson worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 12 years, during which time he held various clinical research and development positions at SmithKline Beecham. Prior to this he worked in clinical practice as a paediatrician.
