Stefano Marino has joined the European Medicines Agency (EMA) as head of the regulator's legal service.
An Italian national, Marino has extensive legal experience in the pahrma industry, having served as director of corporate legal and intellectual property at pharma firm Sigma-Tau since 1997.
He was also chairman of Trademark Committee at the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) from 2005 to 2013 and a member of EFPIA's Intellectual Property Policy Committee from 1998 to 2011.
In his new role, Marino heads a department that includes head of pharmaceutical law Sandra Vanlievendael and head of legal advice and implementation of new legislation Tomasz Jablonski.
