Lorin Johnson joins Atlantic Healthcare board

Salix founder appointed after his investment inthe company

Atlantic Healthcare Lorin JohnsonUK specialty pharma company Atlantic Healthcare has named Salix founder Lorin Johnson to its board of directors.

The move follows the $15.8bn sales of Salix to Valeant and Johnson’s subsequent investment in gastrointestinal specialist Atlantic.

Together with co-founder Randy Hamilton, Johnson took Salix from a ‘bedroom start-up’ in 1989 to a firm with 22 marketed products and revenues of $1.1bn.

Johnson said: “Atlantic Healthcare offers a great opportunity to get back to where Salix started.”

Atlantic’s lead asset, alicaforsen for the treatment of the inflammatory bowel diseases ulcerative colitis and pouchitis.
