Merck appoints new legal and auditing heads

Friederike Rotsch and Barbara Weiland take on senior roles

Merck KGaA has appointed new heads for its legal and auditing functions.

On April 1 Friederike Rotsch (pictured) will become legal counsel and head of group legal and compliance while Barbara Weiland will succeed Rotsch as head of group internal auditing.

Rotsch has been head of group internal auditing since 2011 having previously served as head of corporate legal services at Merck. She joined the German company in 2005 as corporate counsel in corporate legal services.

Prior to her career at Merck she worked as a lawyer at the firm Henger Mueller.

Weiland has been head of global HR business partner group functions since 2011. She has been with Merck since 2005, working initially as senior HR manager for management development.

Before joining Merck, she held several different HR positions at the airline Lufthansa.
