Pfizer’s CMO joins board of Tenet

US healthcare services company Tenet Health Corporation has added pharma experience to its board with the appointment of Pfizer’s chief medical officer as director.

Dr Freda Lewis-Hall has served as chief medical officer at pharma giant Pfizer since 2009 leading the company’s medical division and directing the teams that oversee clinical trials.

As board director at Tenet she will provide advice to a company with more than 105,000 employees, 80 hospitals and 200 outpatients centres.

“We’re pleased to have Freda Lewis-Hall join our board,” said Tenet’s non-executive chairman Edward Kangas. “She has built an exceptional reputation and track record of accomplishments during a distinguished medical and business career.”

The company’s CEO Trevor Fetter added: “I am pleased and honoured that Dr. Lewis-Hall has joined the board and will add her unique insight to our efforts to improve healthcare delivery.”

In addition to her role at Pfizer Dr Lewis-Hall was appointed by the US Government to the inaugural board of governors for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).

Her other industry experience includes senior roles at Vertex, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Eli Lilly, while during her academic career she led research projects for the National Institutes of Health and was vice chairperson of the Department of Psychiatry at Howard University College of Medicine.
