Sanofi has named Robert Castaigne as chairman of its audit committee, effective from March 3.
Castaigne has previously held various positions at the Total group, including chief financial officer and was additionally a member of the executive committee. He has been a member of the Sanofi board of directors since 2000 and a member of its Audit Committee since 2008.
Castaigne succeeds Dr Klaus Pohle, who chaired the audit committee since 2004 and will remain on Sanofi’s board of directors.
Commenting on the changes, chairman and CEO of Sanofi Serge Weinberg said: “I thank Dr Pohle for his 11 years of dedicated service as Sanofi’s audit committee chairman. Mr Castaigne’s appointment as chairman continues Sanofi’s commitment to a strong and engaged audit committee.”
The appointment comes a month after Bayer’s Olivier Brandicourt assumed the role of Sanofi’s CEO following the dismissal of Chris Viehbacher.
