11 London communications agency launches

Led by Grey’s Matthew Hunt and Magnetic’s Stephen Buckley

Matthew Hunt, the former strategy chief at Grey Healthcare Group, and director at Magnetic, Stephen Buckley, have joined forces to launch communications agency 11 London.

The duo have utilised their experience to create an agency that, Hunt told PMLiVE, was spurred by “two very basic things”.

He said: “The first pull factor, if you like, was what we heard from the clients who were really happy with what we had delivered in the past. This was often as simple as making sure we did what we said we would, on time and on budget.

“The second was what we heard from clients frustrated with their agencies – that the agencies were slaves to process rather than focusing on getting to the end result together.”

The new agency aims to create a blend of creative and medical talent by allowing clients to work more collaboratively by providing a mix of practising medical professionals and PhD writers.

11 London can already count numerous pharma companies and healthcare charities as its clients, including Daiichi Sankyo, Allergan, Eli Lilly and Shire.

Buckley commented: “As we're able to work quickly we can help our clients capitalise on topical media opportunities as well as creating more traditional campaigns. Pharma and healthcare marketing has so many inherent delaying factors, the last things clients want is for the agency to add to this.” 

Looking to the future, the agency hopes “that we get to work with the best people in the industry – both client and agency side”, said Hunt.

“There's a massive difference between people who love what they do and light up a room versus those who think they deserve to. If we manage to surround ourselves with bright and lovely people then the rest will follow.”

11 London will formally launch on February 11.
