575 jobs to be cut at sanofi-aventis

Sanofi-aventis has announced plans to remove 575 jobs from its French commercial unit

Sanofi-aventis (S-A) has announced plans to remove 575 jobs from its French commercial unit.

The drugmaker indicated that 497 of the job cuts, which will be accounted for through voluntary employee departures, will be within the sales force.

According to sources, the unit currently employs 2,800 individuals, of which 1,860 are sales staff.

The changes come as the company adapts its commercial model.

In October, S-A announced plans to cut 25 per cent of its US pharmaceuticals workforce – approximately 1,700 positions.
