Acquisition strengthens Ketchum’s Southern US presence

North Carolina-based Capstrat offers corporate public affairs

Global communications consultancy Ketchum has acquired North Carolina-based healthcare, energy and technology public affairs agency Capstrat.

The move strengthens Ketchum's presence in the Southern US, while providing Capstrat with a greater diversity of services for multinational clients.

Capstrat will join the public affairs network, which currently has offices in Washington, DC, New York, London, Brussels, Madrid, Berlin, Rome, Moscow, Mumbai and Hong Kong.

"This acquisition is another important milestone in Ketchum's strategic growth plan," explained Rob Flaherty, CEO of Ketchum.

"We are excited to bring our two firms together to meet clients' business objectives. Through our partnership with Capstrat, we are not only adding expertise, but more importantly, we are adding incredible talent to the agency."

The agency, which offers creative, social media and analytics services to clients including GlaxoSmithKline, UNC Health Care and Quintiles, will continue to operate under its current brand, led by CEO and founder Ken Eudy.

"Ken and his leadership team have built a successful agency focused on blending strategy and creativity, attracting and growing the best talent, building longstanding client relationships through superior service, and a deep commitment to corporate social responsibility," said Rob Lorfink, president and chief operating officer of Ketchum.
