The European Medicines Agency's newly confirmed executive director has picked Andreas Pott to serve as his deputy.
Pott has spent the last 11 months as the European regulator's acting executive director while it conducted a protracted search for a permanent candidate following the departure of Thomas Lonngren in December 2010.
This was eventually concluded with the appointed of Guido Rasi, who officially took office last week.
In addition to his role as deputy executive director Pott will also continue to serve as the European Medicines Agency's head of administration, a role he has held for the last 11 years.
