Sponsored by Astellas Pharma Europe, The Pain Within, an exhibition of photography on the subject of peripheral neuropathic pain (PNP) is currently touring Europe.

Launched at the 7th congress of the European Federation of International Association for the Study of Pain Chapters in Hamburg, the exhibition comprises of photos from Alex Telfer to raise awareness of PNP.

PNP is thought to affect between 3 per cent and 8 per cent of the population in Europe.

Telfer has photographed patients living with PHP for the exhibition, including one subject whose neuropathic pain prevents her from sleeping and another whose condition makes it difficult for her to care for her young daughter.

Ken Jones, president and CEO, Astellas Pharma Europe, said: "We hope that, by making the invisible visible, this exhibition will help to change that and will play a part in creating an environment in which the needs of patients are more widely recognised."
