Aurobindo strengthens stronghold in Europe

Indian pharma company Aurobindo has increased its presence in the European market by acquiring the intellectual property and marketing authorisations of TAD Italy
Indian pharma company Aurobindo has increased its presence in the European market by acquiring the intellectual property and marketing authorisations of TAD Italy.

Aurobindo's acquisition of Italian generics company TAD gives it access to 70 products that are currently ready to market.

Ashish Menocha, Aurobindo's regional vice president for Europe, said: "Aurobindo has already filed 22 products for registration in Italy."

"We expect to derive maximum synergies from this acquisition by shifting the manufacturing of TAD's products to our own facilities," he added.

Aurobindo hopes the strategic deal will jump start its business in Italy, whose market and regulatory procedures are regarded as the most stringent in the EU.

In February 2008 Aurobindo announced that it is to set up a quality assurance laboratory in Malta to prepare its products for release into the European market.
