BOBI rewards best in the business

Entries from the spectrum of business intelligence invited for annual BOBI awards

The fourth annual Best of Business Intelligence (BOBI) awards ceremony will be held on May 10, 2010, at The Grove, Chandlers Cross, with awards being presented for 2009 achievement. The awards ceremony takes place during the two-day British Healthcare Business Intelligence Association (BHBIA) annual conference, where BHBIA members and experts in related fields will share the latest innovations in business intelligence, challenge delegates' current thinking and encourage debate and the sharing of best practice.

The BOBI awards fall into three categories:
1) Panel-judged awards
Individuals or teams are invited to put forward entries into the following categories: best customer insight; most innovative approach; excellence in communication research; best sales effectiveness research; the 'more for less' award and the advanced analytics award. After screening, finalists will be notified in February. Thereafter the short-listed entries will be judged by a team of industry experts.

The BHBIA are keen to encourage entries from across the whole business intelligence spectrum, including market research, sales analytics and forecasting. The key criterion is demonstration of impact on the UK pharma business. Where a pharmaceutical company and one or more agencies/consultancies have been involved in a project, joint entries are preferred.

Confidentiality is of paramount importance throughout the process, with all those involved signing a confidentiality undertaking. Entrants can list organisations that they do not wish to view their entries.

2) Individual awards: Business Intelligence Excellence
There are two Business Intelligence Excellence Awards for 2009-10, namely Business Intelligence Excellence - Industry, sponsored by Synergy Healthcare Research, and Business Intelligence Excellence - Agency, sponsored by Pfizer.

Winners are selected in a two-stage process which includes nomination and voting. Nominations open on December 1, 2009 and close on January 31, 2010. Anyone who has been impressed with a business intelligence professional during 2009 may nominate them for a BOBI award.

Voting for the nominated candidates opens on February 14, 2010 and closes on March 31, 2010. Voting is open to all those in BHBIA member organisations.

3) Individual awards: Best Newcomer
Two Best Newcomer Awards will be awarded for:
• Best Industry Newcomer - sponsored by GfK Healthcare
• Best Agency Newcomer - sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim.

Entries open on December 1 and close on January 18, 2010.

Candidates will take part in a practical business simulation exercise/case study to demonstrate their skills and aptitudes in front of a panel.
