C&W merges with GCI Group

WPP has merged Cohn & Wolfe and GCI Group bringing both agencies together under the C&W name
WPP has merged Cohn & Wolfe (CW) and GCI Group bringing both agencies together under the C&W name. The new offering, which will be re-branded with a new logo and branding strategy, will include a separate global healthcare agency, GCI Health.

GCI Health will operate independently of the newly merged entity and will compete with C&W's existing healthcare practice.

"GCI Health becomes a specialist agency in an industry that is becoming more complex and requiring focused and high-science expertise," said Dosik. "We will be able to find solutions for our clients on the many challenging issues facing their industry, through our diverse talent pool and proprietary tools and resources."

GCI Health will serve healthcare companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Eli Lilly, Genentech and Merck in addition to hospitals, non-for-profit organisations and other institutions. Jill Dosik will become the president of the newly formed company and Paul Kiernan will become managing director of GCI Health London.

C&W CEO, Donna Imperato, will remain CEO of the merged company and former GCI Group CEO, Jeff Hunt, will become president of the firm, which has also launched GCI Health, specialising in all aspects of the healthcare industry.

"The world has gone global and together we're much more of a forceful competitor globally," said Imperato. "Cohn has heritage creativity ñ we're know as the creative agency - while GCI has been the leader in digital, and when you combine those, you become the agency that clients are looking for."
