Claudia Arney, former group managing director of Emap's media and public sector business, has been appointed as a non-executive director at online medical network Doctors.net.uk.

At Emap, Claudia managed several titles including Health Service Journal and Nursing Times. While there she contributed to the development of new digital content business models and helped deliver several new online platforms. Previous positions include roles at HM Treasury, Goldman Sachs and Pearson.

Ian Laing, chairman of Doctors.net.uk, said: "Claudia's experience will be invaluable in helping us to harness this huge potential for further growth."

According to the company, Doctors.net.uk is the UK's largest network of medical professionals, with one in four UK doctors accessing its resources each day. It recently announced plans to expand outside the UK, teaming up with Global Média Santé in France; MedUniverse in the Nordic regions; and Medcenter Holdings, an online health marketing company in Latin/Central America and Iberia.
