Edelman appoints Wilhelmsson

Edelman has appointed Kajsa Wilhelmsson as director of European health public affairs to lead public policy for European health practice

Political, media and corporate veteran Kajsa Wilhelmsson will join Edelman as director of European health public affairs on April 1 to lead public health policy and advocacy for Edelman's European health practice.

As a member of the global health policy and public affairs team, Wilhelmsson will also help guide the strategy of the global health practice, which comprises more than 400 practitioners who specialise in counselling corporations, health providers, universities, advocacy organisations, foundations, government agencies, and other organisations on their health engagement strategies.

Nancy Turett, global president, health, Edelman, said: "Healthcare is no longer a private affair between doctor and patient. While still deeply personal, it is at the same time a massive socioeconomic issue."

She added: "Optimising access, utilisation, safety, and communication requires productive health engagement and debate among stakeholders, including governments, industry, advocacy organisations, health professionals and the public. Kajsa's expertise, experience and relationships will be key to providing world-class counsel to our clients in this new environment."

Wilhelmsson has more than 20 years of experience in the political, media and corporate environments. In her most recent role with European think-tank Health Consumer Powerhouse, she was instrumental in growing the group from a Swedish start-up to a global force in health consumer information.

Laurent Chokoualé Datou, general manager of Edelman Brussels, said: "Kajsa has an unrivalled profile and compelling credentials in a range of health-related European regulatory, public affairs and advocacy issues. I am thrilled to enlist her as part of our team and look forward to her making a strong contribution to our business."

Edelman's health practice collaborates with clients to engage on health issues, including disease prevention, management of chronic disease, the health technology revolution, wellness, infectious disease pandemics, biomedical science, and access to healthcare.

Carolyn Paul, European health practice chair, Edelman said: "Many of our clients cite the strength and depth of our senior team as a key factor in their decision to entrust us with increasingly complex assignments around the world. Having seasoned practitioners like Kajsa who can deliver insightful, credible and dependable counsel to even our most experienced clients is one of the factors that sets Edelman apart."

Wilhelmsson commented: "Edelman boasts an enviably robust communications offering worldwide, especially in the area of health. I am delighted to become part of such a dynamic team. I am sure my experience will create another layer of competence in the Edelman health offering in Europe and further afield."
