Eisai to share clinical trial data via external website

Company aims to further promote transparency in the industry

EISAI

Japanese pharma firm Eisai has revealed its policy on clinical trial data disclosure by making its data publicly available to researchers via an external website.

Eisai’s Policy on Clinical Trial Data Access and the Disclosure of Clinical Trial Information has been published on the company’s website and strives to further promote transparency.

Eisai has also committed to publishing the results of phase III clinical trials in scientific literature or by poster or oral presentation at scientific meetings as well as results of significant medical importance irrespective of the nature of the outcomes.

The firm believes that transparency will lead to the advancement of science and medicine, aiming to contribute to the improvement of public health.

The external website, clinicalstudydatarequest.com, was established to enable researchers to utilise clinical trial data in their research to further boost this objective. Researchers can submit a request via the site, which is then reviewed by an independent panel. If approved, Eisai will then provide researchers with rights to access with anonymised clinical trial data.

Data will be shared for clinical trials for products submitted and approved after January 1 2014 in Europe and the US.

Eisai is forthcoming in its approach to digital outreach, this year setting up an online community of personal weight loss stories as part of its marketing efforts for obesity brand Belviq.
