EMA appoints new head of finance and budget

Michael Lenihan's appointment follows the confirmation of the EMA’s new executive director Guido Rasi

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has appointed Michael Lenihan as its new head of sector for finance and budget.

Lenihan's appointment follows hot on the heels of the confirmation of the EMA's new executive director Guido Rasi last week.

Before joining the EMA, Lenihan was vice president and chief financial officer for 10 years at French retail organisation Hygena Cuisines and before this he held a number of positions as an accountant, financial analyst and financial controller in Ireland, the UK and France.

At the EMA Lenihan takes over from Ulrike Nagl, the regulator's head of section for budget, who was also working as acting head of finance and budget from January 2011.
