GSK hires Spink to handle PR for four OTC brands

GSK appoints healthcare PR company Spink to handle consumer PR for four of its OTC brands

UK-based pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline has appointed UK-headquartered healthcare PR company Spink to handle consumer PR for four of its OTC brands.

Spink has been briefed by Ceuta Healthcare, which handles marketing for some of GSK's consumer OTC products, to raise the profile of the gastro intestinal category health brands Zantac 75 Relief, Original Andrews Salts and Phillips' Milk of Magnesia Liquid as well as ear infection treatment EarCalm.

The year-long media relations programme will be tasked with putting the iconic brands back on the map with consumers and the media. It will be a key part of an intensive marketing push for the brands throughout the year.

The agency will report to Debbie Charman, marketing manager at Ceuta Healthcare.

Charman said of the partnership: "Spink's extensive experience on market leading gastro intestinal category brands such as Imodium, Motilium and Pepcid two really made them stand out for us. And the agency's expertise at revitalising brands with a real heritage behind them was also key, given that we need to bring some of GSK's most well-loved brands back to life."

Agency director Jo Spink said: "Educating the media and consumers about the gastro intestinal health market and all its players is going to be key for Zantac 75 relief, Original Andrews Salts and Phillips' Milk of Magnesia Liquid. An exciting public information job has to be done on EarCalm, too. The brands have such strong media collateral and also have a great story behind them."
