Health Unlimited takes home Innovation award at Communiqué 2016

COPD Crowdshaped work for Novartis also wins excellence in a live event
Innovation in Healthcare Communications Health Unlimited

Health Unlimited's “refreshing and ambitious” campaign for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) received dual honours at the 2016 Communiqué Awards, hosted in London last week.

Labeled “ground-breaking” by the Communiqué judges, the entry took home the awards for Innovation in Healthcare Communications and Excellence in Communications via a Live Event of Stand-Alone Activity.

'COPD Crowdshaped: Advancing ideation in the pharmaceutical sector' was created by Health Unlimited on behalf of Novartis and the COPD Foundation, with the aim of bringing together 50 of the world's most progressive thinkers to help address the global challenge of COPD.

It was the industry's first open-innovation event to involve non-HCPs, and inspired people from a variety of backgrounds, including Boeing, Google, 23&Me, Qualcomm Life and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to participate.

As a direct result of the campaign, several products for COPD have been developed and are currently in late-stage testing.

The Communiqué judges described 'COPD Crowdshaped' as “an inspiring piece of work that we would have loved to have been involved with”.

They explained: “It showed exceptional stakeholder engagement and threw out the rule book to produce a creative and innovative conversation that thought leaders wanted to be part of.

“It was big, bold and brave, and has already provided some really tangible outcomes that are clearly already benefiting patients.

“There were real, real-world outcomes and the work clearly changed internal behaviour, producing in the process some really insightful lessons.”

Run by PMLiVE's publisher the PMGroup, the Communiqué Awards are specifically designed to recognise and commend excellence and best practice in local, European and international healthcare communications.
