Lilly launches online training to boost patient voice in HTA

New tool aims to help patient advocates 'better influence decisions'

ImageLilly has launched a new online tool to help patient advocates better understand, navigate and influence the world of health technology assessment.

The pharma company’s eMEET (Medicine Evaluation Educational Training) tool is part of its broader MEET programme, which was originally developed as an interactive one-day training workshop.

The programme is designed to help patient advocacy group leaders understand and engage in stages of a drug’s life, including: the clinical trials, regulatory evaluation and HTA processes.

The on- and off-line versions of the programme fall within Lilly’s oncology initiative, but the company said eMEET would not focus on any specific therapy area.

eMEET has the endorsement of Health Technology Assessment International (HTAi), a global scientific and professional HTA society. The programme combines video presentations, animations and exercises to show how patients’ experiences can be integrated into HTA.

Lilly explained: “The programme helps patient advocates ensure, in the most productive and meaningful way, that their input to the medicines evaluation process successfully highlights patient issues, informs decision-making and aligns with the scientific evidence.”
