McCann Health cleans up at 2017 Lions Health Awards

Group wins Grand Prix for Good, four gold and four silver trophies for Immunity Charm initiative

Cannes LionsMcCann Health led the pharma field at the Lions Health awards in Cannes over the weekend, taking home four gold and four silver trophies for its Immunity Charm initiative for the Ministry of Public Health, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

The campaign - which also saw the group win the Grand Prix for Good trophy - shows a wearable immunisation chart in the form of a charm bracelet intended for infants.

Each time a baby gets immunised a doctor will hand out a colour bead - representing a specific vaccination - for parents to add to the infant’s charm.

June Laffery, president of the jury and executive creative director of McCann Health Australia, said: “There’s one piece of work that stood out way above the rest.

“The work across the board was fantastic but there was one that touched our hearts.”

Area 23 and Oglivy also picked up gold trophies for their Trafficking Exam and VR Vaccine campaigns, respectively.

Meanwhile, F5 picked up a silver trophy for its Know You Again campaign, marketing communications agency J. Walter Thompson won a silver for its The Fin campaign for hospital group Northwell Health and Medulla Communications also picked up two silvers for its Last Laugh initiative.

Laffery added: “We had a very robust shortlist and we selected some beautiful work. This show not only recognises the very best of pharma work across the globe but it’s a looking glass to the future of what we can achieve and how we can save and empower many lives.”

There had been 59 entries shortlisted for the awards, but the jury decided not to give out the top prize of Grand Prix to the pharma category for the second time in four years.

Healthcare Agency of the Year went to New York's Area 23, with Medulla Communications from Mumbai and McCann Health, New Delhi coming second and third respectively.

And the prize for Healthcare Network of the Year went to McCann Health, with FCB Health coming second and third going to The CDM Group.
