US medical affairs agency sets up shop in Geneva

Med Communications Geneva

Med Communications International has opened its European headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

The US-headquartered firm provides medical affairs services for the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industries. It will continue to expand its services throughout Europe from the new base, it said.

Allen Scoggin, president and CEO of Med Communications, said: “Opening our office in Geneva is a significant step in our company’s 17-year history.

“This enhances our commitment to our global clients, by meeting their local needs with targeted services that best suit them. We are proud of our long-term association with the healthcare industry, and believe this decision further extends our client-centric approach.”

Pierre Maudet, state councillor for security and economic affairs of the Republic and Canton of Geneva, described Med Communications’ arrival in the region as ‘gratifying’.

“It affirms our region’s dynamic ability to continuously attract the health science community,” he added.

Isha Bhattacharyya, senior director, global medical affairs at Med Communications International, told PMLiVE that, having opened doors at its new location on 31 August, the team has already recruited its first additional member of staff.

Med Communications expects to hire ‘at least five more by the end of the year’ as it looks to serve the Europe, Middle East and Africa markets, she added.

“We are also planning to open other regional offices in other parts of the world, including Asia-Pacific and Latin America”, Bhattacharyya confirmed.

Med Communications has been operating from its Memphis, Tennessee global headquarters for more than 15 years, working on academic-based drug information and for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.
