Online communities for healthcare professionals, Doctors.net.uk and Global Média Santé are to team up in a strategic alliance that covers the UK and France.

The agreement will see the two organisations reach a wider European audience with opportunities for the cross-selling and co-marketing of each other's products.

Doctors.net.uk is the largest online network of healthcare professionals in the UK, comprising more than 180,000 registered UK physicians, with more than 40,000 unique users a day. Global Média Santé own Egora, an online community for doctors in France based on the weekly medical magazine Panorama du médecin.

In a joint statement, the companies said that bringing European doctor communities together would 'provide physicians with the opportunity for increased collaboration with their peers as well as improved access to enhanced professional content and online learning.'

Richard Adams, CEO, Doctors.net.uk, said: "Our recent conversations with some of Europe's leading pharmaceutical brands and healthcare communicators demonstrate a clear need for trusted online channels that can be used to engage directly with medical professionals across Europe.”

In 2010, Doctors.net.uk announced it would take a share in MedUniverse, a Swedish online healthcare network, with a strategic alliance also formed with Medcenter Holdings, an online health marketing company in Latin/Central America and Iberia.
