New appointment at ABPI

The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry has appointed Sam Ogden as membership engagement account director

The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) has announced the appointment of Sam Ogden as membership engagement account director. Sam will join the ABPI on January 10, 2011 and she will be reporting to Alison Clough, ABPI commercial director.

Sam is currently head of in-field effectiveness at Roche where she has worked for the past 10 years in a variety of senior sales, marketing and business unit head roles. Prior to joining Roche, Sam held commercial roles at AstraZeneca and SmithKline Beecham.

Alison Clough said: "We are delighted that Sam will be joining us. She brings a wide range of experience including primary and secondary care sales and marketing, market research and sales force effectiveness. Sam will ensure that we engage more proactively with all our members, in particular the small to mid-sized companies and will play a key role in ensuring their views and needs are fully represented in our campaigns."

Meanwhile, former ABPI president Chris Brinsmead has been appointed as the government's new life sciences business adviser, helping the government to deliver a UK life sciences environment that promotes innovation and sector growth and ensures that patients have access to the latest medicines and medical technologies.
