Dr Alan C Moses, chief medical officer at Novo Nordisk, discusses the global 'health disaster' that is diabetes in an exclusive video ahead of the United Nations (UN) Summit on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD).

The summit will see world leaders gather in New York, US, to discuss the global challenge of conditions such as diabetes, cancer and heart disease.

Previously this week, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) called for 'real action' to be taken to prevent and treat diabetes following the release of new figures that suggest the number of people living with the condition in across the world in 2011 has reached 366 million.
