Ogilvy consolidates Asia Pacific offering

Comms firm launches Ogilvy CommonHealth Asia Pacific

Global communications agency Ogilvy has launched the Asia Pacific-focused Ogilvy CommonHealth Asia Pacific (OCH AP) to be led by Rohit Sahgal.

With established healthcare communications offices in India, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Australia, and Japan, OCH AP will provide marketing comms solutions for the Asian health and well-being sector.

Sahgal has been regional director for Ogilvy’s health business since January 2012. The last 12 months has seen the company bulk up its senior team in the region, with the addition of Gary Pattison as group managing director in Australia, Cheuk Lee as regional medical education discipline leader and Pete Smith as regional creative director.

In establishing OCH AP, Ogilvy plans to create a ‘glocal’ healthcare specialist agency network, the company said. OCH AP expects to offer services ranging from managing the complexities of a ‘genericised’ environment to creating strategies for mature brands and developing scientific and creative innovation for emerging diseases.

Ogilvy CommonHealth WorldWide chairman & CEO Matt Giegerich said that two years’ preparation had given OCH AP “deep, meaningful specialist healthcare expertise which is highly connected and strongly underpinned by the strength and values of the Ogilvy worldwide network”.

“These are exciting and challenging times, with new regulatory laws to comply with as well as emerging markets requiring a far more sophisticated and adaptable set of strategies and communication solutions. The launch of OCH AP couldn’t have happened at a more opportune time,” he said.

Paul Heath, chairman Ogilvy Group Asia Pacific, said: “With the knowledge, talent and success we have in Asia Pacific, we are creating the kind of cross-discipline specialist offering only Ogilvy & Mather can deliver.”
