Parexel enhances its clinical supplies mobile app

Adds Bluetooth capability to better monitor temperature-sensitive medication

Parexel App

Biopharmaceutical services provider Parexel has added temperature-monitoring features to its ClinPhone RTSM clinical supply management app.

The app, which was launched earlier this year, aims to address key issues facing clinical trial staff, such as the workflow and safety issues commonly associated with packing, transport and storage of temperature-sensitive medications.

Ubavka DeNoble, corporate vice president of patient technology services, Parexel, said: “At Parexel, we continually innovate to better ensure patient safety and data accuracy while simplifying tasks for clinical trial sites.

“This important new functionality builds on the existing capabilities of Parexel’s active tracking service and the ClinPhone RTSM mobile app to better manage the chain of custody record for clinical supplies.”

According to a report by Corex, by 2020 it is expected that eight out of the top ten global biopharmaceutical products will require cold chain management.

The upgraded Android and iOS app looks to tap into this demand by providing end-to-end temperature monitoring to record the complete temperature history of a product via in-pack wireless sensors.

DeNoble added: “With this new offering, clients will reduce safety risks and costs associated with temperature-compromised stock.”
